Greetings!
My name is Oleksandr Melnyk. I created this site as my personal portfolio to
present projects I worked on and also just to share a bit about myself.
Of course if you need any graphic designing done - I will be happy to help
you with that :))
If you feel lost - you can go to the site-guide (a button in top left corner)
to learn about site's sections and their contents.
Enjoy ! :)

Closer Look
Name: Oleksandr Melnyk
Born: June 6, 1973 in Ternopil, Ukraine
Nationality: Ukrainian
Language: Ukrainian, English, Russian, some Polish
Education: 1988-1991 Vocational School (combined with a High School) - Fitter
and Assembler of radio-electronic equipment (I took it only for the reason
of getting closer to computers and electronics. Computers were not too common
in those days but I always dreamed of being able to use a computer for creating
images.
1991 - Technical School with the specialty artist-decorator of the interiors
and exteriors. Graduated in 1994, Ternopil, Ukraine
1996 - School of Desktop Communications (Mediavillage, University of the Nations)
in Altensteig, Germany. Though it was only a three months course it was worth
of three years of studying in Technical School (the one I have finished in
'94)! - Very intensive study! Can't wait to take more courses.
Working Experience: In November 1999 I had six months internship with the iGroup
Inc. in Mississauga, Canada. That was my first experience of working with such
big company where I was introduced to a web design for the first time. After
that I launched my first website for Youth With A Mission, Ternopil, Ukraine
which later I and a good friend of mine Max Lysakovskyy redesigned to what
you can see right now online.
In 2001 I started to develop corporate identity (including website) for the
WellNet Solutions.
Also in 2001 designed "shell"-navigation for the Business Works of
Hawaii Inc. site.
AIRO Ministries website - never got launched even though I did everything that
was dependent on me. The logo and emblem are used even right now.
M&O Trading logo was also designed in 2001.
You can view all of the graphic design in Portfolio under Graphic design category.
Platform: Mac OS, though I do use PC for testing of webpages and just to make
sure that everything works smooth on both Mac and PC.
Why Mac? - I am a user not a programmer and PCs are still not "there" for
the users yet :(
Applications used for designing: Adobe Photoshop+ImageReady, Adobe Illustrator,
Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash (still learning), QuarkXPress, Fractal
Design Painter
My vision:
… It is sort of big so I think it is worth of being given a separate page
to read it click on vision button below :)

Vision
Just wanted to let you know that I was carrying out this vision for years and
currently I stopped pursuing it and in the end of this page you will know why.
Oh, no, no, no! I didn't give up!
When I look at how big of an influence Media has on people I believe that it
can be and should be used for them to learn the truth. I would like to see
young people come to the Lord and being discipled to go into every sphere of
society bringing the message of the Kingdom of God. Now you know a bit more
about me - I'm a believer in Jesus Christ the Son of God, God the Father -
ultimate Creator and Holy Spirit the Comforter - the Spirit of Truth.
So back to the vision - one of the ways to do it could be Internet cafe and
coffeehouse combined together. Young people especially students here in Ukraine
are looking for resources for the projects they are working on and it would
be a cool thing to have a place where they could come and use computers (most
of them don't have access to computer or Internet) at the same time it could
be a hangout place to have a cup of coffee or tea and a bit of fellowship with
each other. One thing is that I would like to see local churches being actively
involved in this project. I believe in friendship evangelism - that is how
I came to the Lord. So as a visitor would meet and get acquainted with someone
from the church they could be discipled by the very same person. I believe
relationships with people is the key thing (this is what God is teaching me
now and I feel challenged doing this).
Another part of it could be a professional training in the area of Media. There
are many talented people in Ukraine and they should be given an opportunity
to use their skills and talents. I want to see it come to life through seminars,
workshops, maybe even schools. As continuation of the learning process a production
part should come in place (Otherwise why learn?) It would totally make sense
to have a place where people could use their knowledge and skills, and live
of it. Again, there are many people in Ukraine that don't have a job and it
could become an opportunity for them to start supporting themselves financially
as well as making an impact in the area of Media for the Kingdom of God as
they get to know Christ (that is another purpose of all this training :) ).
So really it is like a circle - people from community discipled and released
to influence the community around them and maybe even farther.
God continues to teach me... I was running ahead of him maybe too much... That
why I chose to stop and wait for Him - So now is a time for me to wait and
see what is that that God wants me to do (which I believe that His ways are
true and straight!)
